What is Laser Hair Reduction?
It is a procedure which utilises a laser hair removal system. The skin is soothed and cooled as the handpiece glides over it.
Its unique design, longer wavelength and innovative cooling design allows for extremely safe, effective and permanent results.
Where can it be used?
The laser can remove hair from all parts of the body, including the:
- Face
- Legs
- Arms
- Underarms
- Back
- Sensitive areas like the chest, nipples and bikini line
Who can use Laser Hair Reduction?
Men and women of all skin types and tones, from light to dark, including tanned people. However, it is not recommended for pregnant women and if the treated area has been under too much sun exposure a week before.
How long is the procedure?
Depending on the surface area to be treated. Usually, hair treatments for the underarms take 30 minutes.
After the procedure:
- Normal activities can be resumed right away.
- 3 – 7 days after the treatment, you may experience what seems to be regrowth of hair. In actual fact, most of these hairs are shed as a result of your treatment and are not regrowing.
- Between treatments, it is advisable not to wax or pluck your hair, but shaving is permissible.
- Avoid exposure to the sun on the treated area, especially one week before and after the procedure.
Are there any side effects?
- The treated area may appear a bit red and swollen immediately after treatment, similar to sunburn which typically last for several hours or less.
- In rare instances, blistering may occur.
How soon can I expect to see the effects?
- Most areas require 3-6 treatments.
- The number of treatments depends on hair thickness, the area treated and the hair’s growth cycle.
- Not all hairs grow at the same time but undergo 3 distinct phases: growth, regression and resting.
What happens if I did not continue treatment?
In most cases, the results will be permanent. However, some people will experience regrowth of hair, but of finer texture.
