Curcumin is a substance found in turmeric, which is commonly known as a spice. It has anti-oxidant properties that may prevent the formation as well as neutralisation of free radicals. Curcumin is generally used to treat inflammation, stomach upset and arthritis. It can also stop the oxidation of cholesterol, thus protecting against the formation of plaque in the arteries.
