Profile:

Saras holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics as well as in Education. She was a Science Talent Scholar
in India when she was pursuing her Bachelor’s programme.

She holds a Master’s degree in Counselling from Edith Cowan University of Australia and also a Master’s degree in Applied Psychology from the University of Southern Queensland.

Saras is a Member of the American Psychological Association. She specialises in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) and is trained in Ericksonian Hypnosis, as well as in MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction). She is also a certified Human Behaviour Analyst (DISC).

Having been with Raffles Hospital since 2000, Saras offers her counselling services to in and outpatients. Having worked with individuals, couples and families, her areas of expertise include couples counselling, stress and anxiety management, depression, trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder, grief & crisis counselling, personality disorders, eating disorders and life transitions.

Apart from having taught counselling for a diploma programme, Saras has also acted as a supervisor to students of Diploma in Counselling at Nanyang Polytechnic.

In addition, she has conducted numerous workshops on stress management, anxiety and depression, basic counselling skills, cultivating a healthy mind, mental health first aid, breathing and relaxation techniques, EQ at workplace, counselling skills for teachers, grief therapy and crisis management during retrenchment for organisations that include the Health Promotion Board, CPF Board and Singapore Police Force to name a few.
