Profile:

Dr Lim Yeow Wai is an Orthopaedic Surgeon at Raffles Orthopaedic Centre. He graduated in NUS with MBBS. He went on to obtain his postgraduate degrees: Membership from the Royal College of Surgeons from Edinburgh, Masters of Medicine (Surgery) from NUS and Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons from Edinburgh. He completed his overseas clinical fellowship in Upper Limb and Hand Surgery in Australia. Thereafter, he was awarded the prestigious New York Presbyterian Hospital – Shoulder, Elbow and Sports Medicine (ASIAN) Fellowship with Professor Louis U Bigliani. Dr Lim has more than 20 years of orthopaedic experience and over 1000 surgeries in shoulder/ elbow and wrist over these years. With over 30 publications in peer reviewed journals and one book chapter in Advance in Elbow Reconstruction with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeon. He also served as a reviewer for the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery as well as the Annals of Academy of Medicine Singapore. He has also been featured in a Netflix documentary.

Dr Lim is the only Singapore Orthopaedic Surgeon to be conferred the prestigious Honourary Member of the Korean Shoulder and Elbow Society in 2014 for his contributions in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. He invented the surgical technique to reconstruct the acromioclavicular joint called the triple endobutton technique in 2008. This technique has been widely used in the world and his original paper has more than 100 citations in peer review journals.

Dr Lim was formerly the Director of Shoulder and Elbow service in Changi General Hospital. He was also the Honorary Secretary of the Singapore Orthopaedic Association from 2004-2005, and was the Chairman of the Orthopaedic Chapter of the Sports Medicine Association of Singapore from 2007- 2009.
