Profile:

Dr Roy Kan is a Specialist in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, National University of Singapore in 1998 and received his postgraduate Master of Medicine (Anaesthesiology) degree in 2005. Dr Kan completed his fellowship training at the Department of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine, Johns Hopkins Hospital, USA, where he attained the American Board Certification in Perioperative Trans-esophageal echocardiography. Dr Kan currently holds dual specialist accreditations in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine from the Ministry of Health (MOH), Singapore.

Prior to joining Raffles Hospital, Dr Kan was Senior Consultant and Deputy Head of the Department of Anaesthesiology at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) as well as a member of TTSH’s Clinical Board. He was Executive Director of the 28 Operating Theatres at TTSH. Dr Kan was concurrently Clinical Director of TTSH’s ambulatory surgery centre which, during his tenure, won an Asian Hospital Management award for operational excellence in 2018.

Dr Kan established the National Healthcare Group Anaesthesiology residency program as its first Programme Director from 2009 to 2016. He was invited to be a member of the American Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education – International Surgical Review Committee and was appointed as Visiting Consultant to the Professional Training and Assessment Standards Division, MOH.
