Dr Tng Eng Loon
Hypothalamic-pituitary disorders, adrenal disorders, androgen disorders, osteoporosis
Dr Tng is a Specialist in Endocrinology. He obtained his MBBS from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2004, and obtained his Master in Medicine (Internal Medicine) from NUS in 2011. He passed the Specialty Certificate Examination (Endocrinology and Diabetes) held by the Royal College of Physicians in 2015 and obtained his Master of Science (Endocrinology and Diabetes) with Distinction from Queen Mary University of London in 2017. He further obtained a Master of Science (Evidence-based Healthcare) with Distinction from University College London in 2019 and was on the Dean’s list for this programme.
After completing his Basic Specialty Training in 2011, Dr Tng went on to complete his Advanced Specialty Training in Endocrinology and Diabetes in 2014. Under the Ministry of Health’s Health Manpower Development Programme, he also completed a fellowship training in Endocrinology and Diabetes in St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London, and in the Oxford Centre for Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism in 2019.
Prior to joining Raffles Hospital, Dr Tng worked as an endocrinologist in Changi General Hospital in 2014, and Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH) from 2014 and 2022. He established the Osteoporosis Service in NTFGH and was the clinical lead of this service.
Dr Tng is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of the UK as well as a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Chapter of Endocrinologist, of Singapore. He is a member of the College of Family Physicians of Singapore, Endocrine and Metabolic Society of Singapore, and Osteoporosis Society of Singapore. He is also a member of the Cochrane Collaboration. He was the secretary of the Endocrine and Metabolic Society of Singapore between 2015 and 2016. He was a member of the expert group on the Appropriate Care Guide on Osteoporosis published by the Ministry of Health of Singapore in 2018.
His medical expertise includes the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes mellitus, obesity, hyperlipidaemia, thyroid disorders, osteoporosis and metabolic bone diseases, adrenal disorders, hypothalamic-pituitary disorders, androgen disorders and neuroendocrine tumours. Dr Tng’s subspecialty interests are hypothalamic-pituitary disorders, adrenal disorders, androgen disorders, and osteoporosis.
